At Black Fox Brand, we take your health seriously — and that’s why we go above and beyond to ensure our rice is not only delicious and nutrient-rich but also safe. We recently submitted samples of our Premium Semi-Brown Rice and Premium White Rice for third-party laboratory testing to check for heavy metals and arsenic — substances that naturally occur in soil and water but can accumulate in rice.
Here’s what we found — and why it matters.
What Was Tested?
We tested for:
Inorganic Arsenic (the form most associated with health risks)
Organic Arsenic Compounds (like DMA and MMA)
Specific forms of arsenic: Arsenite (As III) and Arsenate (As V)
All samples were analyzed by AGQ Labs USA, an accredited, independent laboratory using high-precision methods (HPLC/ICP-MS).
The Results
Premium Semi-Brown Rice
Inorganic Arsenic: 137 µg/kg
Arsenite (As III): 137 µg/kg
DMA (organic): 87.2 µg/kg
MMA and Arsenate: Not detected
Premium White Rice
Inorganic Arsenic: 87.7 µg/kg
Arsenite (As III): 87.7 µg/kg
DMA (organic): 111 µg/kg
MMA and Arsenate: Not detected
What Does That Mean for You?
Our white rice tested well below the FDA guidance limit of 100 µg/kg for inorganic arsenic in infant rice cereal — the most stringent guideline available.
Our semi-brown rice also tested well below the EU’s maximum limit of 250 µg/kg for brown rice.
All results reflect the rice as sold, before rinsing or cooking — which can reduce arsenic content even further.
Simply put: our rice meets or exceeds international safety standards.
A Quick Note on Arsenic in Rice
Arsenic is naturally found in water, air, and soil — and rice, being a water-loving crop, absorbs more than other grains. That’s why testing is essential, and it’s why we’re committed to transparency.
While brown rice tends to retain more nutrients, it can also carry slightly higher arsenic levels because the outer layers are left intact. Our results reflect this natural difference, with both types staying safely within acceptable ranges.
